Black Love Prologue

Jasmine stared at the dark starry sky moonlight glinted off the bloody tears as they trailed down his cheeks. A sigh seemed louder than usual in the wind, as he turned from the wilderness and into his study.  The vibrant red and gold blurred together as he stumbled into a desk and onto a couch, choked sobs shaking his body.

“Why?”

Jasmine barely felt the Earth move beneath his feet fear propelling him from his predator. The trees shook from the pounding of their feet indicating there was more than one of them. Rain started to fall a relief to Jasmine as it hid his scent a bit.
Jasmine slid to a halt as a tree came crashing down in front of him. A huge creature with fiery gold eyes snarling at him lunged at him. Cursing, Jasmine leapt into the air his feet brushing the tips of the creature’s fur. Grabbing a tree branch, Jasmine spun around to growl as two more creatures joined the first.
‘Great I’m outnumbered.’ Jasmine leapt from the tree with a snarl as claws tore his silk shirt tearing skin. Jasmine went with the hit spinning into a roundhouse kick, his heel connecting with the creatures jaw. His triumph was short lived as another creature joined the fight, latching onto Jasmine’s shoulder, the other two jumping in to claw and bite.
“Why” His voice, a bit louder, cracked at the end as he pressed his face deeper into the couch the scent of dark spice drifting up to surrounded him.
Pain was a dull word to describe how he felt. Hell, probably felt better. Half-lidded eyes glared at the creatures now circling him. Their laughter sounded like nails on a chalkboard. The sound of their nails clicking against the road was an annoyance in the back of Jasmine’s mind.
‘How am I going to get out of this one?’ Jasmine looked for an opening while tracking his enemy.
“Stupid, stupid fool.” Jasmine swung his arm, knocking everything off the mahogany desk. A lamp shattered as it flew into a bookcase knocking books off. “Why”
“RUN JASMINE RUN! That’s an order!” Jasmine turned to growl at his master, when his body started moving on its own.
“Damn you!” Jasmine fought the urge as much as he could, in the end following the order whispered by his master.
A scream tore through the rain-filled night, freezing Jasmine where he stood. Fearfully, Jasmine turned slowly letting out a choked sob at the site of his master. The creatures were currently tearing the body limb from limb, blood spraying everywhere.
“Damn you for leaving. Damn you for not letting me die with you.” Jasmine slid down the window, blood trailing down from a cut somewhere on his head. His body was numb except for the shattered heart.
