Pain, Anger, and Confusion

Blood seeps through her fingers as she stabs with all her might, the serrated blade bringing flesh with every slice. The pain filled cries fall upon deaf ears as she continues to bring the blade down, moonlight glinting off the metallic surface. Slowly, the motion slows as the strength ebbs from her arm.
Tears slip past her guard, falling to form tiny little pools on the metallic armor. Once they began, the tears continued to spill, cascading like a dance through the autumn mist, freezing into little diamonds as no one hears the anguished cries that spill from her lips.
Animals run in fear that they too will catch the darkening sadness that swells from within the girl’s breast. Their tiny little heartbeats creating a rhythmic drumming sound.
An explosion rings in the distance, rivaling the girl’s cries in volume. A war rages on, while she cries for the lover lost to her. Blood splashes against her pale skin as more and more people fight around her. Reality begins to slowly slid back into place as an arrow pierces her shoulder, spinning her so that she now lies face up on the ground. Still, she doesn’t feel the pain, doesn’t hear the battle raging around her as the blood continues to drench her pure white dress.
She can feel the warmth seep from her, flowing into the very mother who had given birth to her. The world begins to fade as she willingly gives up on the life that meant nothing to her anymore. She has no reason to stay. Her family is dead. Her child dead before it ever had the chance to breathe the same air as her. All happening in the same war that took the life of her love and her own life; at least she managed to take one of the bastards with her.
